Tiger Tiger The restaurant at Aberdeen’s branch of Tiger Tiger, one of the newest in the country, offers a tantalizing Asian fusion menu that also makes room for many traditional Scottish favourites over an extensive a la carte or set menu to select from. Situated at the east end of Union Street on Shiprow, next door to the Vue Cinema (so perfect for a pre or post-film bite), Tiger Tiger is famous for its stylish cocktails, and Aberdeen’s branch manages to fit in five bars and a club under the same roof as the restaurant. But dishes such as Katsu chicken curry, stir fried udon noodles or the Tiger beer (what else?) battered fish are intriguing enough to ensure your mind stays on the food. Zizzi Italian restaurant chain Zizzi opened the doors of its very first branch in London's Chiswick in 1999. Now there are over 100 branches, all decorated in an appealing contemporary style. Wood-fired ovens, open kitchens and modern interior design with locally influenced art features make for a vibrant atmosphere. As for the food, they serve up a variety of traditional Italian dishes including all the usual suspects: salads, antipasti, pasta, pizza, calzone, risotto as well as fish and meat mains and desserts. What Zizzi really pride themselves on is sourcing good quality ingredients; salads are dressed with white balsamic vinegar from Modena, for example, and offer Goddess Olives, a variety known for their firm flesh and nutty flavour. The modestly priced wine list is dominated by Italian wines, starting at £13.45 for a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The décor at the Aberdeen branch reflects the area's history as a hub of industry - expect exposed pipes and granite walls. Cuisine: Italian Location: Union Square, Aberdeen, AB11 5RG [Map] |
